Last Time India Played ODI Against Australia at Home

In the lead-up to the ICC ODI World Cup, Team India is set to face Australia in a three-match ODI series to prepare for the big tournament. The action kicks off on Friday, September 22, in Mohali.

Whenever India and Australia clash, it's a nail-biting experience for fans. The 50-over format has seen Australia dominate, winning 82 matches compared to India's 54 victories.

Their recent ODI encounter took place earlier this year in India, where Australia made a remarkable comeback after initially being down by winning the three-match series 2-1.

Australia lost the first game, but they bounced back, winning the next two matches. The final match, played in Chennai on March 22, saw Australia batting first after winning the toss. They had a good start, with Mitchell Marsh and Travis Head putting up 68 runs for the first wicket. However, despite some good starts, Australia was bundled out for 269 runs. In response, India started well but fell short and ended at 248 runs, losing the match by 21 runs.

Leg-spinner Adam Zampa was the star for Australia, taking four wickets, while left-arm spinner Ashton Agar contributed with two wickets. Zampa was named the Player of the Match, and Marsh, who was promoted to open due to David Warner's absence, won the Player of the Series award, finishing as the highest run-scorer with 194 runs at an average of 97.

Ashwin's return to the ODI setup just before the ODI World Cup is a significant development. The spinner from Tamil Nadu, who last played an ODI in January 2022, joins as the third spinner after Kuldeep Yadav and Ravindra Jadeja.
